POP
POP is the acronym for Post Office Protocol, and refers to a protocol for retrieving e-mail messages located on an e-mail server. POP connects to the mail server, authenticates, retrieves mail, "can" delete mail on the server, and disconnects. This operation transits over a TCP/IP network and uses the TCP transfer protocol.
